Designing an engaging reading experience for a text-heavy book under economical constraints
WITH TARA BOOKS
Classroom with a View is a book on schools and education by educator and writer Ashwin Prabhu. Published by Tara Books, it connects the educational philosophy of Jiddu Krishnamurti with the everyday pedagogical practices of the Krishnamurti schools in India.
The design of the book evolved through a number of limitations. To minimise printing costs, we reduced the number of inks by creating a two-colour scheme through the entire layout. Since good quality images were too few to offset the large passages of text within each chapter, I had to work creatively with typography and colour to create a more dynamic experience for the reader.
